1st German Open in General Game Playing (GO-GGP)
In the context of the 34th German Conference on Artificial Intelligence (KI-11) we are currently in the process of preparing the first German Open in General Game Playing. The idea is, of course, to further promote general game playing in the AI community. Similar to previous competitions at AAAI and IJCAI we hope to get participants from all over the world.
According to the conference's organizers, there will be one day
reserved solely for workshops. That will be the day we will hold
our competition, parallel to the workshops. The precise day is not
yet set, though. So, at the moment we cannot get any more precise
than that it will be at one day of the conference, which is held
from the 4th to the 7th of October in Berlin, Germany.
The
workshops - and thus the competition - will be held on Tuesday,
October 4th.
In order to participate, please send us a mail by the end of August stating the player's name, the team members, the main contact person, whether you require remote access and whether you or one of your teammates will be present at the conference.
Remote play should be possible. If we cannot get a server in Berlin open to remote access, we will switch to our own server in Bremen. For the competition we will use an instance of the Dresden GGP server, so that the participants should have no problems getting their player to communicate with the server.
The exact organization of the competition (heads-on vs. group system, number of games, types of games (single-, two-, multiplayer, turn-taking vs. simultaneous moves) etc.) will be published once we know how many teams will participate.
UPDATE: We will not only run a classical GGP track, but an additional track on GGP with non-determinism and incomplete information, making use of GDL-II. Whoever is interested is very welcome to participate there as well.
UPDATE2: The
competition is over, and the results (as well as the games,
matches, etc.) are online on these pages. The winner of the
classical track is Ary, the winner of the GDL-II track
Fluxii. Congratulations to the winners, and thanks to all
participants.
